In the Summertime was written by Ray Dorset and first released in 1970 and sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.

The song topped the UK charts and also did very well in the US and Canadian charts.

In 1995 Shaggy covered the song, also featuring Rayvon, and went on to perform it in an episode of Baywatch. The cover made it to number 1 in some US charts and number 5 in the UK chart.
